Free online program addresses job stress in nursing

Lowell, MA – A new online program from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, aims to help nurses cope with stress on the job.

The free continuing education program consists of four learning modules, case studies and reference materials.

The modules, which last between 15 and 30 minutes, are:

  1. "Introduction to Job Stress in Nursing," an overview on the impact of stress on the nursing profession
  2. "Stressors in the Healthcare Workplace," which explores how the field has altered over the years and discusses stress factors and hazards for nurses
  3. "The Impact of Job Stress," which highlights how stress affects both physical and mental health and patient care
  4. "Stress Prevention and Coping Strategies," which outlines primary, secondary and tertiary levels of prevention strategies and also offers resources
