Marcus Davis
Age 33
Scientist
Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division, Newport
Newport, RI

“As part of Mr. Davis’ efforts to ensure the safety of the VIRGINIA class submarine and to lead the team responsible for the safety of the submarine, the program recently completed a Flight Test of the Tomahawk Missile. The title of Flight Test is misleading, as the safety effort began with the test planning, the development of the test procedures to include safety-specific testing, the integration of the missile interface, weapons loading, the firing of the test version of the Tomahawk and every step in between. The test results were evaluated by an independent test authority and have been graded as successful. This test is extensive and thorough, and through his leadership, no adverse impacts to the existing level of safety of the submarine, the missile or the people conducting the test were noted.”
