Lansing, MI – Michigan OSHA has launched a Local Emphasis Program targeting enforcement activities on industries that recently have experienced an increase in injuries and illnesses.

Beginning Oct. 1 and going through Sept. 30, 2016, MIOSHA intends to inspect more than 50 siding, structural steel and pre-cast contractors at various jobsites. From 2012 to 2013, the number of nonfatal injuries suffered by workers in the foundation, structure and building exterior industry in Michigan increased to 1,200 from 1,000, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics data.

MIOSHA’s LEP inspections will focus on fall protection, scaffolds, ladders and personal protective equipment, among other topics.
