Council employee recognized for work with teen drivers

The National Safety Council is pleased to announce that Kathy Bernstein Harris, senior manager of teen driving initiatives at NSC, has received an Excellence in Advocacy Award from the Professional Women in Advocacy. Since joining NSC in 2011, Bernstein Harris has helped establish 10 state teen driving coalitions, develop parent education tools and advocate passage of state Graduated Driver Licensing laws.

“Under Kathy’s guidance, the National Safety Council has continued to be a national leader in reducing car crashes among our most vulnerable drivers,” Deborah A.P. Hersman, president and CEO of NSC, said in a press release. “Kathy’s strategies directly involved delivering life-saving information to the people best suited to share it – teen drivers’ parents – and invigorating grassroots efforts to effect change. We are as proud to have her working with us as we are fortunate.”
