Ship’s Safety Officer
U.S. Navy
Tamuning, Guam

“Ms. Gonzalez established a safety culture that consists of worksite spot-checks, bi-weekly division inspections and safety assistants who completed 2,069 line item inspection checklists that assess material discrepancies within their spaces. She actively engages her department head peers to ensure all OSH programs are evaluated monthly at the Enlisted Safety Committee meeting and the quarterly Safety Council meeting. She created a monthly “Industrial Hygiene Bulletin” to ensure the crew is educated on safety related topics. She coordinates bi-annual stand-downs and divisions train on 18 SOH topics throughout the year. In addition to the bi-annual stand-downs, eight SOH training topics are given over closed circuit television to all-hands.”
