“He was the engineering design safety focal for the 777X folding wing tip. In the concept design phase, there were many ergonomic concerns with the installation process. Working together with other team members, they identified several improvements, including repositioning sub-components within the design envelope to improve assembly and changing the wing access hole shapes and sizes to improve access. This required the creation of physical and digital mockups of the folding wing tip. The assembly and installation process steps were simulated with production mechanics to comment and further improve the design.”
