OSHA opens application process for training grants

OSHA is accepting applications from nonprofit, community and faith-based organizations for $8 million in Susan Harwood Safety and Health Capacity Building Training Grants.

The grant program funds long-term efforts to train workers to recognize hazards and appropriate control measures, and to understand their rights under OSHA.

Applicants may apply for pilot grants -- intended for organizations that need time to assess needs and formulate a plan for a safety and health education program -- or developmental grants, which are for organizations looking to expand their training capacity.

The application deadline is July 2.
