OMB reviews shipyard final rule

The Office of Management and Budget on Sept. 27 received OSHA's proposed final rule on general working conditions for shipyard employment.

The rule would address issues related to housekeeping, illumination, sanitation, first aid and lockout/tagout. According to the rule's abstract, as many as 100,000 workers are potentially exposed to these hazards every year.

The proposed rule was published three years ago. The final rule is scheduled for publication in November.
