MSHA announces safety training grants

Arlington, VA – The Mine Safety and Health Administration is accepting applications for $1 million in mine safety and health training grants.

The agency will award as many as 20 Brookwood-Sago Mine Safety Grants for amounts between $50,000 and $250,000 for a 12-month period. In a change to the program, applicants also may apply for a renewal grant.

Funding will target the development and implementation of training and materials for mine emergency preparedness and emergency prevention, MSHA said.

Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. EDT on Aug. 31. Grants are scheduled to be awarded by Sept. 30.
