DOT extends surface transportation funding

Washington – Congress on Dec. 21 approved the Continuing Appropriations and Surface Transportation Extensions Act (.pdf file), which extends funding for various Department of Transportation safety provisions.

The bill passed with amendments in the Senate by a vote of 193-165, and President Barack Obama signed it into law on Dec. 22.

The bill allows extension of funding for provisions under the Safe, Accountable, Flexible and Efficient, Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users. The previous extension expired on Dec. 31.
