National Work Zone Awareness Week begins April 23
St. Louis – The American Traffic Safety Services Association is kicking off National Work Zone Awareness Week at a St. Louis event on April 23 to bring attention to injuries and fatalities suffered by motorists or workers in U.S. work zones.
The event is scheduled to feature Federal Highway Administrator Victor Mendez and will include a ceremony to award the Missouri Department of Transportation for its work zone awareness activities.
National Work Zone Awareness Week (April 23-27) also is coordinated by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials and the Federal Highway Administration. Some states may choose to conduct additional work zone safety awareness weeks or events throughout parts of April or May, according to an ATSSA press release.
