OSHA appoints Dorothy Dougherty as new assistant administrator

Washington – Dorothy Dougherty has been appointed as OSHA’s new assistant administrator, the agency announced Jan. 30.

Dougherty is filling the non-political, career assistant administrator post that mirrors the politically nominated assistant administrator post currently filled by Jordan Barab. She has been with OSHA for 22 years, most recently as the agency’s director of the Directorate of Standards and Guidance.

“Dorothy’s leadership and broad knowledge of the agency have already led to significant contributions to our agency and beyond,” OSHA administrator David Michaels said. “We look forward to continuing to work with her in her new capacity.”
