Agency requests feedback on personal protective technologies strategy

Pittsburgh – NIOSH’s National Personal Protective Technology Laboratory is accepting comment (.pdf file) through July 1 on its strategy to address recommendations in a 2010 Institute of Medicine report on personal protective technologies.

In the report, released Nov. 11, 2010, IOM advised NIOSH to develop and implement risk-based conformity assessments for PPTs.

NIOSH has proposed a seven-step timeline that starts with defining the standards to be included in the assessment process and ends with defining the types of PPTs to be included in the framework.
