Conference to focus on sleep apnea and truck drivers

The American Sleep Apnea Association and American Trucking Associations announced they will co-host the first national conference on sleep apnea and truck drivers.

According to a press release from Arlington, VA-based ATA, the one-day event will take place May 12 in Baltimore and will include a keynote address by National Transportation Safety Board Chairman Deborah Hersman. ATA and ASAA said the event is intended to educate professional drivers about obstructed sleep apnea diagnosis, treatment and related regulations. In addition, ATA said it hopes the forum of experts generates guidance and provides trucking management with resources to improve employee safety and health.
