Free ergonomic training kit aimed at teaching students
Seattle – A program to help teach ergonomics to elementary school students recently became available through the Puget Sound Chapter of the Human Factors and Ergonomic Society.
The Technically Cool Computing activity kit contains materials to teach computer ergonomics to children in fourth through eighth grade. Students are shown how to assess their workstation and habits to reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injuries.
According to PSHFES, 58 percent of middle school students experience pain from computer use. Pilot tests of this program resulted in all students learning to recognize and correct awkward postures, the chapter said.
