MSHA releases info bulletins on respirable dust samples, fall prevention

The Mine Safety and Health Administration recently issued several Program Information Bulletins.

A June 18 bulletin notifies mine operators and independent contractors that MSHA on July 1 will begin evaluating the integrity of each required respirable dust sample.

A bulletin reissued on June 16 explains to operators how to record "Sampling Start Time" on the dust data card manufacturers provide with each filter cassette.

A second June 16 bulletin details the requirements for providing safe access, fall prevention and fall protection to miners who are operating, conducting maintenance or accessing work platforms of self-propelled mobile equipment.
