New initiative addresses aerial work platform safety

Five organizations recently released a guide (.pdf file) on best practices for aerial work platform equipment as part of a larger initiative to promote safety and increase risk management knowledge.

The document addresses:

  • Education on industry-recognized and supported standards
  • Presenting best practices and minimum general training guidelines for AWP operators
  • Emphasizing the differences between general training and familiarization to all parties responsible
  • Clarifying minimum qualifications of the trainer
The American Rental Association, Association of Equipment Manufacturers, Associated Equipment Distributors, Scaffold Industry America and International Powered Access Federation jointly released the guide.
