PHMSA seeking comment on transport of radioactive materials

The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration is requesting comment on a draft revision of regulations for the safe transport of radioactive materials.

According to a notice (.pdf file) in the July 1 Federal Register, the agency is scheduled to publish a revision of the Vienna, Austria-based International Atomic Energy Agency's "Regulations for the Safe Transport of Radioactive Material" in 2012. PHMSA and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission will be submitting comments jointly.

The deadline for comments is Oct. 29.
