Event Description

Watch the archived presentation below.

This webinar reviewed the current state and timeline of the pending OSHA rule changes and NEP, as well as the pending NFPA 652 Correlating Standard. It focused specifically on the requirements for flash fire personal protective equipment (PPE) within these documents.

Engineering can and should reduce the combustible dust hazard in frequency and severity, but it cannot be engineered out. As a result, current enforcement and pending rules require protection of workers to dust flash fire. The presentation covers the duration and energy of flash fires, the NFPA 2112 standard for flash fire PPE and performance of commonly available FR clothing against this hazard. There is HD video of full-scale, outdoor flash fires and dust flash fires, as well as independent laboratory testing of the most common FR fabrics.
