Topeka, KS – Kansas will launch a study to examine the possibility of creating a state agency to oversee occupational safety and health, under a bill signed May 12 by Gov. Sam Brownback (R).
The Kansas secretary of labor must submit recommendations based on the study to members of the state congress by Jan. 12.
If the state decides to become a State Plan state and it is approved by federal OSHA, Kansas would become the 28th state or territory to operate its own occupational safety and health agency.
