Columbus, OH – A new app has been designed to help parents protect their children from injuries at home.
Created by Nationwide Children’s Hospital researchers, the free Make Safe Happen app has safety checklists for each household room as well as links to safety products. Users select their child’s age range and choose a room in their home. The app offers guidance on how to improve safety in the room and what safety products to use.
Available for both iOS and Android devices, the app also allows users to make to-do lists, create reminders and monitor their progress.
The initiative’s website shares safety guidance by child’s age, location and risk category, as well as statistics about home safety.
“We created something that I needed as a mom, and that would give parents and caregivers the tools they needed to make their home safer for their family,” said Lara McKenzie, principal investigator with Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s Center for Injury Research and Policy.
