2015 fall prevention “stand-down” underway

OSHA’s two-week National Fall Prevention Stand-Down kicked off on May 4.

The agency is encouraging employers in the construction industry to participate in this year’s event, which runs through May 15, by asking managers to conduct a safety activity such as a toolbox talk, equipment inspection, rescue plan development or discussion about job-specific hazards.

OSHA’s goal is for 20,000 stand-downs to take place, reaching 3 million worker participants. This the second year of the annual event, which is part of a fall prevention campaign launched three years ago by OSHA, NIOSH, and the Center for Construction Research and Training.
