Washington – In response to a stakeholder’s request, NIOSH has extended the comment period on a Request for Information on peracetic acid, according to a notice published in the June 1 Federal Register.
The new comment deadline on the RFI is Oct. 1.
Peracetic acid “is a colorless liquid with a strong, pungent acrid odor” that is used as a disinfectant, often in food processing, according to the National Center for Biotechnology Information.
NIOSH, which has not yet established a recommended exposure limit for peracetic acid, is seeking information and related data on the possible health effects among workers exposed to the liquid.
