NSC recognizes trio with Marion Martin Award

Orlando, FL — Rose McMurray, Megan Proctor and Catriona Schmolke are the recipients of the 2021 Marion Martin Award, presented annually by the National Safety Council Women’s Caucus. The trio received their awards Oct. 11 during the Opening Session of the 2021 NSC Safety Congress & Expo.

McMurray is the chief transportation safety advisor for FDR Safety LLC. Proctor is the director of environmental, safety, health and quality at Central Plateau Cleanup Co.; and Schmolke is retired from her post as senior vice president and global head of safety, security, sustainability and quality at Jacobs (UK).

“Rose, Megan and Catriona set the standard for safety leadership and excellence, regardless of gender,” NSC President and CEO Lorraine M. Martin said. “Whether at global companies or in government positions, their expertise and guidance has created a safer working environment for thousands of people, ultimately allowing them to live their fullest lives.”

McMurray provides consulting services to the trucking, motorcoach, transit and other transportation sectors. Previously, she served as chief safety officer and assistant administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

Proctor is responsible for the safety of workers at Central Plateau, the largest and most experienced nuclear end-state delivery team. The company has decommissioned nearly 1,200 facilities and dispositioned more waste than any other U.S. company.

Before her retirement, Schmolke oversaw the health and safety of workers at Jacobs, a Fortune 500 company with 60,000 employees across the globe who provide technical and professional engineering services. She held various operational leadership positions for more than 30 years, helping clients identify safe, sustainable solutions.

The award was established in 2016 to celebrate the accomplishments of women in safety who have paved the way to success for other women throughout the profession.
