Washington — The Federal Railroad Administration recently renewed the two-year charter of its Railroad Safety Advisory Committee and has scheduled a virtual public meeting for Dec. 8, according to a notice published in the Nov. 23 Federal Register.
RSAC provides information, advice and recommendations to the FRA administrator. The committee is made up of 51 representatives from 26 organizations that represent a variety of industry perspectives. Member organizations include the American Chemistry Council, the Association of American Railroads, the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen and the Institute of Makers of Explosives.
According to an agenda summary published in a separate notice in the Federal Register, meeting topics will include the new charter. In addition, FRA will present updates on recent activity by RSAC working groups regarding incident reporting, passenger safety and track standards. The agency intends to propose to the committee two new tasks related to Confidential Close Call Reporting Systems and roadway worker protection. The meeting is slated for 9:30 a.m. Eastern.
The deadline to register for the meeting or submit written materials for review is Dec. 1.
