Washington — OSHA has launched a national competition for the best tools and resources on the dangers of heat exposure – indoors and outdoors – at work.
The “Beat the Heat” contest – open to all industries – “seeks to educate workers and employers about workplace heat hazards, raise industry and general public awareness of the dangers excessive heat presents to workers, and motivate employers and workers to act to prevent heat illness.”
A panel of subject matter experts at OSHA and other federal agencies will choose winners based on the following criteria:
- Innovation
- Creativity
- Strength of message
- Best non-English language entry
- Indoor heat emphasis
- Young worker emphasis
Winning entries will be displayed on OSHA’s website and featured in agency newsletters. The winners will receive a letter of appreciation from agency administrator Doug Parker, a “Beat the Heat” challenge coin and a congratulatory certificate.
Submissions are due June 9.
