Safety videos created for truckers driving on Colorado’s mountain highways

Denver — Tips on navigating construction zones and preventing overheated brakes are recent additions to a Colorado Department of Transportation video series focused on safe truck driving on mountainous terrain.

The Mountain Rules campaign – a partnership between CDOT, Colorado State Patrol and the Colorado Motor Carriers Association – is aimed at equipping truck drivers with “the necessary knowledge and awareness to safely and confidently navigate our highways,” CDOT Executive Director Shoshana Lew said in a press release.

CMCA President Greg Fulton believes the videos will help prevent crashes and reduce traffic delays and road closures on I-70 and other mountainous corridors.

“The steep downgrades, winding roadways and fast-changing weather conditions make for a challenging drive, for even the most experienced truck driver,” Fulton said in the release. “The Mountain Rules program and videos provide a great educational tool.”
