The federal government shutdown, which began Oct. 1 when Congress was unable to agree on funding levels for fiscal year 2014, concluded Oct. 17 following the passage and signing of the Continuing Appropriations Act, 2014. This will fund government agencies such as OSHA through Jan. 15, 2014.

The Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs – part of the White House’s Office of Management and Budget – reviews proposed regulations. The process is required for most rules before they can move forward, and typically takes 90 days.
