Tumwater, WA – A 60-second animated video titled The Teen Worker’s Survival Guide has won a student safety and health video contest from the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries.
The video, created by Erik Soper of Shelton, WA, used computer-generated graphics to educate teen workers about their rights and responsibilities, as well as potential hazards in the workplace. Soper received a $500 gift card.
Second place went to Megan Bowlen of Olympia for Twitter Safety, a video using social media to show dangerous safety attitudes.
The contest was part of L&I’s Injured Young Workers Speakers Program, which aims to prevent incidents among young workers.
