Itasca, IL — To help keep drivers in the know about ever-evolving vehicle safety technologies and how to use them, the National Safety Council has added resources to its MyCarDoesWhat.org website.
Here’s what’s new:
- An organized overview of the safety features available in specific vehicle types
- Short, simple explanations of what these technologies can – and can’t – do
- A video library
NSC estimates that more than 46,000 people lost their lives to traffic crashes in 2021. The council says existing technologies can save thousands of lives each year.
“For example, advanced driver assistance systems alone can save up to 10,000 lives per year,” NSC says. “We will only realize the full safety benefits of vehicle design if we know what features exist, their limits, how they intersect with one another and other vehicles, and the responsibility we have as roadway users to contribute to a safer environment.”
