Approximately 35,400 people died in motor vehicle fatalities in 2014, according to newly released estimates from the National Safety Council. In addition, the estimated annual mileage death rate decreased to 1.18 deaths per 100 million miles traveled, matching the lowest NSC preliminary estimate on record.
