As spring gives way to summer, House Republicans are asking a question they have asked several times before: Where’s the regulatory agenda?
Required to be published twice a year by the White House’s Office of Management and Budget, the regulatory agenda outlines potential regulations and the planned regulatory steps that various government agencies – including OSHA – intend to pursue.
The Obama administration has a history of being late on issuing its regulatory agenda, and this has prompted GOP members to hurl accusations at the administration.
The spring 2013 agenda was required to be published last month, and Republican members of the Education and the Workforce Committee requested (.pdf file) an explanation from OMB as to why it has yet to be published.
But this could just be partisan bickering. As one stakeholder has pointed out to me before, it’s not exactly a secret what regulations OSHA is pursuing.
Even still, the agenda does offer a nice glimpse into agencies’ projected timeline. I’ll stay on top of this, and let you know if there are any developments.
