Washington – National Work Zone Awareness Week is April 15-19, and a kick-off event is scheduled for 10 a.m. on April 16 at an urban work zone in Washington, D.C.
This year’s theme, “Work Zone Safety: We’re All in This Together,” represents how work zone safety is the responsibility of all roadway users – law enforcement, emergency response personnel, pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists and roadway workers, according to a press release from the American Traffic Safety Services Association.
Scheduled guest speakers at the kick-off event include Rep. John J. Duncan Jr. (R-TN) – vice chairman for the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee – and representatives from the Federal Highway Administration and the District Department of Transportation.
