Washington – The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has released details about a previously announced listening session to discuss driver harassment stemming from the use of electronic onboard recorders.
According to a notice (.pdf file) published in the Feb. 29 Federal Register, the session will take place March 23 in conjunction with the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, KY. Attendees are invited to provide comments about potential harassment stemming from EOBR use and what FMCSA should include in an EOBR final rule.
The Arlington, VA-based American Trucking Associations recently filed a motion (.pdf file) supporting EOBRs, contending that the devices assist commercial motor vehicle carriers in complying with FMCSA’s hours-of-service regulations.
FMCSA said directions to view a webcast of the listening session will be posted on the agency’s website sometime before March 23.
