Senators request report on Positive Train Control progress

Washington – Two senators recently sent a letter to the Federal Railroad Administration expressing concerns with progress on installing Positive Train Control technology on rail lines.

Co-authored by Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer (both D-CA), the letter contended that the agency will not meet its 2015 deadline mandated by the Rail Safety Improvement Act to install the technology on all rail lines transporting passengers and toxic materials.

The senators requested that FRA submit a report within 60 days detailing and addressing roadblocks to implementing the technology.
