Washington – The Chemical Safety Board on March 12 released a safety video featuring a family member of one of the workers killed in the 2010 explosion at the Tesoro refinery in Anacortes, WA.
In the four-minute video, The Human Cost of Gasoline, Amy Gumbel describes the emotional impact of losing her brother, Matt, who was performing maintenance at the refinery when a heat exchanger exploded, causing a fire. Without stronger laws and government regulations, Gumbel says in the video, companies such as Tesoro are unlikely to improve their behavior.
