“In January of this year, only having been at Roanoke County a short time, Matt organized and created a safety steering team that consisted of all levels of the organization. This team would be the body that ultimately would guide and direct the safety culture at Roanoke County. Matt took the steering committee a step further by involving the Roanoke County Public School System. By combining resources, Matt has been able to give back to employees the most powerful tool imaginable in safety programming: decision-making. Under Matt’s guidance, the steering team has conducted an employee perception survey to assist in creating a joint strategic plan for both organizations’ safety programs.”
