Jarred O’Dell
34
Safety Director
Syracuse Utilities Inc.
Watertown, NY

“Jarred created a cohort of supervisors with varying backgrounds, skill sets and levels of responsibility. The purpose of the group was to obtain the Certified Utility Safety Professional credential. The group functioned much like a study group, where the members could come and discuss various topics in preparation for the exam. Group members have stated that this experience has made them more aware of safety issues; however, it has also given them better tools to be a supervisor. In April, all five group members took the exam and are currently waiting for their results. Other supervisors have expressed an interest in participating in a second cohort expected to be formed later this year.”
