“Umair carried out detailed incident analysis of all process safety events, which revealed that 90% of leakages were related to asset integrity, out of which 75% of leakages belonged to ethylene recovery unit pipelines having ethylene stream in it. He marked exact leakage points with process parameters. He collected data and location of temporary repairs, their surveillance reports, inspection history of pipelines and conducted detailed risk assessment of the unit. He presented the deterioration graph of pipelines. It was decided to shut down the unit, replace low thickness lines and remove temporary repairs with permanent repairs.”
