Washington — OSHA and the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration will host virtual public meetings Nov. 19 in preparation for a pair of United Nations meetings.

During the OSHA meeting, announced in the Oct. 22 Federal Register, the agency and the U.S. Interagency Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals Coordinating Group will gather comments and information to help develop the government’s position for the 39th session of the UN Sub-Committee of Experts on the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals, slated to be a hybrid (in-person and virtual) event on Dec. 9-11 in Geneva, Switzerland.

PHMSA will conduct a public meeting to discuss proposals in preparation for the 57th session of the UN Sub-Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, scheduled for Nov. 30 to Dec. 8. The agency is requesting comment on potential new work items that may be considered for inclusion in its international agenda, and will provide an update on recent actions to enhance transparency and stakeholder interaction through improvements to the international standards portion of its website.

The PHMSA meeting is scheduled for 9 a.m. Eastern, followed by the OSHA meeting at 1 p.m. Pre-registration for both meetings is recommended, as space is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Comments are due Dec. 3.
