“One significant outcome implemented by Kim was the ‘honest communication’ initiative. This initiative addressed the overall safety of the workplace by requiring the reporting of hazards, near misses and incidents. Before the initiative, employees felt they didn’t have an outlet to voice concerns. Kim recognized their frustration and created a procedure to submit and review reports. She also made herself available to help with reporting. With this information, she was able to investigate all incidents, hazards and near misses thoroughly and examine and correct their root cause. It encouraged workers to report health and safety concerns knowing there would be mitigation.”
