NIOSH: Child care workers should get the flu vaccine

Washington – A new document from NIOSH seeks to dispel common misconceptions that child care workers may have about the flu.

The document addresses claims that the vaccine does not work, the vaccine can give you the flu and the flu is not serious.

NIOSH advises all adults – even healthy ones – to get a flu vaccination. The one-page document points out that the flu can spread easily in child care settings because children are more susceptible to the virus and may not wash their hands properly or cover their nose and mouth when sneezing and coughing.
