Alert addresses skid-steer loader hazards

Atlanta – A new NIOSH alert (.pdf file) is aimed at workers who operate, service or work near skid-steer loaders.

Skid-steer loaders are commonly used in agriculture and construction for materials handling and excavation. The alert describes six deaths involving skid-steer loaders and offers safety recommendations, including:

    • Stay seated when operating the loader controls.
    • Never carry riders.
    • Regularly inspect and maintain safety devices.
