FMCSA ruling for interstate van operations in effect
Amendments went into effect this month on a final rule (.pdf file) that sets requirements for drivers and operation of vehicles used to transport between nine and 15 passengers for direct compensation.
Regardless of distance traveled, small passenger-carrying commercial motor vehicles must comply with federal regulations no later than June 1. The final rule amends the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations for interstate van operations and makes the regulations applicable to vehicles beyond a 75 air-mile radius from the driver's normal work-reporting location.

- Driver qualifications
- Driving of CMVs
- Parts and accessories necessary for safe operations
- Hours of service
- Inspection, repair and maintenance
