GHSA lists priorities for 2011

In addition to re-electing Vernon F. Betkey Jr., director of the Maryland Highway Safety Office, to a third term as chairman, the Governors Highway Safety Association announced its top priorities for the coming year.

According to an Oct. 19 press release, those priorities include:

  • Working closely with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Mothers Against Drunk Driving and other partners to ensure Congress fully supports highway safety
  • Focusing on emerging issues in highway safety, such as distracted driving, pedestrian safety, speeding and aggressive driving
Washington-based GHSA recently adopted a new strategic plan (.pdf file) and activity already is underway, according to the release.
