FMCSA fines illegal bus company for multiple violations
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration on June 21 issued a notice of claim charging the owner of Tierra Santa Inc. bus company with multiple federal motor carrier safety violations.
According to a press release, Cayetano Martinez, owner of the bus company, faces $72,760 in fines as a result of an investigation of a fatal crash on March 5 in Phoenix. Six passengers were killed and 16 others were injured in the crash. Martinez is charged with 78 violations of 13 separate motor carrier safety regulations. The notice of claim also identifies the four company names Martinez allegedly used to illegally operate and evade previous orders to cease all interstate and international passenger carrier transportation.
