NIOSH releases mine emergency training program
December 7, 2011
Washington – A new training program from NIOSH aims to help miners practice making decisions during an underground mine emergency.
The three-part program (.pdf file) consists of computer-based training, an instructor’s guide and lesson plans, and an optional evaluation form for trainees to provide feedback on the sessions.
The computer-based training, which simulates an underground mine emergency, incorporates recent safety developments in mining technology, such as refuge alternatives and self-contained self-rescuers.
