Pennsylvania governor signs teen driver bill
October 26, 2011
Harrisburg, PA – Gov. Tom Corbett (R) signed a bill on Oct. 25 that sets Graduated Driver Licensing restrictions for the state’s teen drivers.
The bill limits teen drivers to one non-family passenger for the first six months after receiving a junior license. Teens also will not be able to transport more than three non-family passengers until age 18.
Drivers and passengers younger than 18 caught not wearing a safety belt will be fined $75, and teen drivers may be pulled over solely for that violation.
The bill also requires the Department of Transportation to issue a report every two years on junior drivers involved in an incident with multiple teen passengers.
The bill is scheduled to go into effect Dec. 24.
