Rep. Fudge returns to EdWork Committee to fill Rep. Payne’s vacancy

Rep. Marcia Fudge (D-OH) will fill the vacancy on the House Education and the Workforce Committee left by the passing of Rep. Donald Payne (D-NJ).

Fudge leaves the Science, Space and Technology Committee, and also will sit on the Workforce Protections Subcommittee.

“Through my new committee assignment, I will continue to promote policies that ensure we have a robust American workforce and economy, in addition to safe conditions for American workers,” Fudge said in a statement.

During a March 21 hearing in which several committee members shared remembrances of Payne, Fudge said she hoped she could live up to the standard of the late congressman’s “impressive legacy of protecting workers’ rights.”

Payne died earlier this month due to complications from colon cancer.
