Senate confirms Nakamura as FMSHRC member

The Senate recently confirmed Patrick K. Nakamura as a member of the Federal Mine Safety and Health Review Commission.

As a lawyer in Birmingham, AL, Nakamura has represented clients in labor, employment, and health and safety cases in federal and state courts and before agencies such as FMSHRC, the National Labor Relations Board and the Department of Labor, according to a commission press release. He has worked in the mine safety and health field for more than 20 years.

President Barack Obama nominated Nakamura in November 2009. His six-year term expires Aug. 30, 2016.
